It’s not news that more and more people are using website feeds. Using a web feed means that your site reader no longer needs to visit the website for updates and that may impact the site’s traffic levels.

To curb the trend, you need to give your readers a reason to visit. That could mean using only an excerpted website feed, which is still a topic of debate, offering them an incentive (like holding a contest or survey), or enticing them with other blog entries they may be of interest.

Having related entries on the blog itself is not only good for search engine rankings, but it also gives the reader options. Chances are, if they find the information they just read interesting, they’ll want to read more. Shouldn’t those who only subscribe to the feed be given the same options?

Luckily, that’s an option in the Related Entries plugin — and underused option. When you’re configuring your blog’s related entries, make sure that you take the time to include the related entries within your feed.
