For the past month, actually longer, I’ve been staring at code. CSS declarations, HTML tags, and PHP statements; at one point, I began dreaming in code. There were a few times when I grew weary of coding, but then I would think about the end results and pressed on. I’m glad I did. If I lost you, I’ve been working on WordPress themes throughout the month of August.

When all was said and done — despite incidentals like a pseudo-hurricane, a server crash, a domain name change, and my sister donating her cold bug to me — I learned a lot about my likes, dislikes, my strengths, and weaknesses when it comes to theming. It also inspired a ton a blog entries that are currently sitting in draft. :)

Thank goodness I decided to cheat. The core theme files were created ahead of time so my time was basically spent creating mocks up, slicing and dicing those mock ups, then coding them into CSS. Even with the core files out of the way, WordPress theme development is no joke and my respect for theme developers (myself included) has been fully renewed.

Enough about that, time for the update and notice. If you’ve sent me an e-mail or left a comment that I haven’t responded to, I promise I’m not ignoring you — it probably got misplaced in the shuffle, please re-send it.

If you want to know the name of the theme site, subscribe to my newsletter and participate in the upcoming contest (hint: it will be a scavenger hunt). I’ll eventually post the contest here, but subscribers will have a head start. :)

If you want to know about the process, go ahead and subscribe to my Destination Success website because that’s where I plan to do the full write up on the experience, process, and pitfalls.
