Most blogging software allows commentators to leave their URL; that can mean backlinks and traffic. But something I’ve been noticing a lot recently is that some links lead nowhere. Turns out, the authors usually forgot a letter or reversed two letters in the URL. That simple error can cost you a backlink or boatload of traffic.
So, here’s a quick tip, before you hit the submit button to enter your comment on a blog, double check to make sure you’ve written your URL properly.
(And, if you don’t have a website, leave the space blank - it’s usually not required.)

haha, that’s right. I have not just made this mistake once, but many times. I think almost every commentor such mistakes. Can’t imagine people are just that careless. Oh well, we learn from mistakes.

I’ve notices that the visitors on some of my blogs do the same thing - the link just doesn’t work because of a careless mistake - thanks again for the reminder..

Funny how you can spend ages to write a good comment, and then you mess up the URL to your blog. Only takes 2 secs to doublecheck…

I have the informenter extension for firefox installed, which allows you to save text which you may use often in forms. Then, a little arrow appears next to each field and you can click it to pick one of your saved texts. I have my website url saved (and I made sure it was correct when I saved it) so I just click that and I am sure that it won’t be wrong. Usually after one comment I don’t have to enter the info again anyway (even on other blogs as long as its the same platform; usually wordpress)
