It’s the first day of DealDotCom’s official launch and it was a smashing success, selling out its first product (Easy Member Pro) by late afternoon.
Not only that, apparently, they were punked by someone who signed up for various accounts and posted notices that the first “deal” was only supposed to be $1.48.
When you get past the initial question of “why was someone even allowed to register with names such as Administrator and Moderator in the first place“, you can find the humor and valuable lesson in the whole mess. The DealDotCom crew did, any way.
The question is… who was this punk’dster?
Who knows.
I’m sure our Code Monkeys could do a reverse trace on their IP, Google map their address, and send them a nice little gift like this one:

Hey, everyone needs a good hobby, right?
Some post fake blog comments, some Google themselves (… or both).
But, on second thought… why waste another second (or dollar) on these punk’dsters.

In case you, my dear reader, didn’t catch the lesson in this — always make sure to restrict users registering with certain names and their variations.
Some examples of names that no one (besides you or someone you trust) should be able to register with are Admin, Administrator, Mod, Moderator, Owner, or any of their various misspellings. Also, you truly should not allow anyone you do not know or trust to publish content on your website unless it’s carefully moderated.
Moving right along. The first product to grace the pixels of DealDotCom is considered a high ticket item and it was going for a 50% discount, but the DDC crew would like to make it crystal clear that they also intend to offer products boasting a wider budget appeal.
I also took the liberty of asking about any upcoming blogging products, and while they didn’t offer me specifics (pouty face), they did inform me that they do have some planned. That means you’ll probably find some products that will help you become a better blogger, but you just have to keep an eye on the DealDotCom website if you want to catch them.
Of course, if you’re not a die hard addict — i.e. waiting until the stroke of midnight to catch the next deal — then there’s a solution; there’s a WordPress plugin which will show you the current day’s deal. It’s still in Beta, but it looks pretty slick.
To finish up, while you’re visiting the DDC website, don’t forget to sign up for their free affiliate program which will surely rock your socks.

I got in on this one too! I am always looking for good affiliate programs to join to promote on my websites.
