While no one would have expected it on a weekend, WordPress 2.5 (code named Becker) has been released along with a spanking new WP.org design (the Codex will follow suit shortly). A few changes and feature additions have been polished since my initial WordPress 2.5 Revealed and Compared to 2.3 article was published, but it’s still a rather accurate summary of what previous WordPress users can expect. If you’re so inclined, feel free to download it, but I would definitely recommend installing it on a test server until you get the hang of it and to ensure you actually like it. And finally, make sure to double check your themes and plugins for compatibility.

I will install it when the upgrade comes available on my cpanel….

Thank you for the earlier previews and for the suggestion to try this new user interface out in test mode before changing to it for a main blog. I’m using 2.2.2 right now and have created a test blog for 2.5. So far, I’m liking the look of 2.5, but due to tax prep time haven’t been able to dig around in it and try it out. Look forward to doing that in the next day or two.
