The Secret to Getting Tons of Traffic and Links

With all of the information overload nowadays, just having a website doesn’t guarantee you success. There are so many other factors that go into having a successful web presence. Today, I’d like to share with you one technique that could increase your traffic by viral sharing and increasing links back to your site.

Infographics are essentially images that contain interesting data. Below is an example of an infographic titled Honda Accord: 30 Years of American Craftsmanship.

Honda Infographic

This example is a more detailed infographic than most, but it serves to show you that even large corporations are taking advantage of this tactic.

But why are infographics so powerful? Well, infographics present data in a way that is much more entertaining and simple than just putting data in a table. Because of this, people are much more likely to share infographics. Infographics also allow you many more traffic options such as Google images and Pinterest. But the real reason why infographics are so powerful is because people are much more likely to share an image than the are a long, boring post!

So, How Do I Make Infographics?

Up until recently, you had to hire (or be) a designer with skills in Illustrator or Photoshop. This was expensive to a point where it was unrealistic for small business owners.

But lately, there have been several tools that have come on the market that will help you create beautiful infographics very quickly. Out of all that I’ve looked at, I am most happy with Piktochart.

This website has both free and paid plans. The paid version gives you over 80 themes to choose from, the ability to remove the Piktochart watermark, and increased customization. The paid plan is $29 per month or $199 per year, which isn’t cheap. But when you compare that to hiring a designer at $400+ for one graphic… That seems like a steal.

Once you sign up for this service, you will be able to drag and drop pre-designed elements onto a template and then customize to fit your needs. I don’t know about you, but being able to select from elements that have already been designed and just place them how I want them sounds pretty easy to me!

Bottom Line

Piktochart is a free/cheap method to use to begin building infographics in order to promote your company. No matter what industry you are in, you can create an interesting infographic. Take for example an air conditioning company. An air conditioning company could create an infographic that compared different setting a thermostat at different temperatures to a different in monthly electricity bill. You too can create an infographic for your industry!
