If you’re already a member of the Yahoo! Publisher Network (which is still in Beta testing), you’re likely to have received the email. If you’re not, you can read about the YPN RSS ad debut at the Search Engine Journal.
Google offers RSS advertising, but it’s only open to a select few - and they’ve already chosen their few.
If you haven’t already signed up with YPN, they are still accepting applications. It took about a month for one of my blogs to be accepted - but your submission may take more or less time.
There is still some debate on how well ads in RSS feeds do compared to traditional on the page advertising. I believe it depends a great deal on the subject of the blog and how targeted the ads are. I personally think they would do well on the blog I submitted to the network.
On a more personal note, I was surprised to receive a phone call from them to make sure I was doing alright with their service. I expected, maybe, to receive an email survey after about a month, but the call was certainly an unexpected nice touch in this faceless entity we call the internet.
The representative I spoke with was quite personable which I appreciated. Actually, there are a great number of things I appreciate in the Yahoo! Publisher Network over Google’s AdSense program, but that’s another post for another day :).

What plugin would I use to put the ads on my blog?
